Lush melodies drift across intricate rhythms\, groove heavy beats and warm\, fuzzy bass lines. Often exploring a dark and dense palette\, his music also manages to convey a sense of tranquility and beauty. Shimmering with cinematic qualities\, his music ultimately speaks to the body\, mind and soul. It’s often said that Phutureprimitive is his own genre.\n\n\n\nThe sound of Phutureprimitive has spread far and wide with performances From North and Central America\, Western and Eastern Europe and Australia.\n\n\n\nRain is also the owner of The Phuture Producer Method. Phoenix has been playing eastern-style instrumentation for over a decade(tabla\, doumbek\, darbuki\, didgeridoo\, ric\, native flute etc). With Totem\, Phoenix explores the digital domain with rich melodies\, psychedelic synths\, and exotic instrumentation. Totem culminates these two passions into a modern interpretation of ancient instruments. The sampling style is deep and visceral. Blending sequences of thick bass and instrumentation with live production. Live production includes: Didgeridoo\, vocals\, synth\, keyboard\, percussion\, and bass. Phoenix’s debut album with Totem is titled\, The Bonfire of Life\, and was written as a motion of solidarity with the native tribes of North America. Totem sees the immense potency that dance has for healing in our culture\, and also sees the reverent nature of ancient and native style music. The ultimate thrill is fusing these two things into a continuous musical experience shared amongst listener and maker. His fluidity of moving from one instrument to the next has led to his ability to bring a variety of musical styles together to create dynamic and inspiring performances. iLko’s tendency to explore other instruments eventually brought him to his calling: the drums.\n\n\n\nHis songs range from down-tempo super-sexy soundscape styles to upbeat rhythmic dance songs that provide a positive vibe in any environment. He often will bring a live aspect to his performances through percussion\, bass guitar\, vocals and other live elements. DESCRIPTION:JOIN US IN PERSON AT THE HIGH DESERT MUSIC HALL FOR THE LIVE PERFORMANCE OR TUNE IN TO 96.5 FM FOR A LIVE BROADCAST \n\n\n\nFROM 7:30PM – 9:00PM \n\n\n\n# 7 – FEATURINGCRUZ CONTRERAS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Multi-instrumentalist\, vocalist\, songwriter\, and producer Cruz Contreras has roots in Tennessee and Michigan\, but has impacted Americana music worldwide.  \n\n\n\nThe frontman\, founder\, and driving force behind The Black Lillies’ raw and rootsy sound also co-founded Robinella and the CCstringband\, and has collaborated with musicians ranging from John Oates and Jim Lauderdale to Langhorne Slim and The Turnpike Troubadours. His projects have topped both the Billboard and Americana radio charts\, won Independent Music Awards\, and been nominated for the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year award. After over a decade touring under the name The Black Lillies\, Contreras is currently performing as a solo act and has been recently collaborating with cellist Dave Eggar\, fiddle player Billy Contreras\, and wife Molly Contreras.  \n\n\n\nOver the years\, Cruz has appeared on nationally broadcasted television including Late Night with Conan O’Brien\, CMT\, VH-1\, GAC\, Bluegrass Underground and PBS Television’s Sun Studio Sessions. His music has been lauded by outlets as diverse as American Songwriter Magazine\, Rolling Stone\, NPR’s Morning Edition and Vanity Fair\, among others. As an independent artist\, Cruz has played Nashville’s lauded Grand Ole Opry 40 times over the years.
