DESCRIPTION:Come and feel the music move you as elemental rhythms provoke a curiosity of spring’s growing spirit. Mother Earth’s rivers\, waterfalls\, oceans and forests constantly illustrate that change is constant. Can we interpret\, discover and enjoy within our life’s cyclical themes of change? How does stillness\, silence and sound teach you to listen for answers often offered to your questions in nature? Renee will encompass this theme of transformation\, personal and integrative\, through a dialogue of expressive movements\, traditional and contemporary.\n\n\n\nRenee Gonzalez grew up in Los Angeles and Orange County\, California. She studied in Colima\, Mexico\, and then completed a bilingual cross-cultural language internship through California State University Fullerton. She taught elementary school in Santa Ana\, on the Pala reservation\, and in a dual language program in San Clemente. In 2007\, Renee and her family moved to Bend and she began teaching English language development and mainstream classes at Jewell. She also taught in the dual immersion program at Bear Creek Elementary for six years. Now Renee is inspired to develop a culturally responsive arts-integrated curriculum for LCA’s Raices program and Amiguitos summer club. DESCRIPTION:Gary Miranda \n\n\n\nRedmond poet Gary Miranda won the prestigious 2023 Stewart H. Holbrook Literary Legacy Award. \n\n\n\nThe award is presented annually by Oregon Literary Arts “in recognition of significant contributions that have enriched Oregon’s literary community.” \n\n\n\nCome join us for a reading and recognition to his creative success.  \n\n\n\nMiranda\, a Pacific Northwest native\, has taught writing and literature at various universities\, including as Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Athens and as writer-in-residence at Reed College. He has published poems in The New Yorker\, The Atlantic Monthly\, Poetry and elsewhere. \n\n\n\nHis first book “Listeners at the Breathing Place” won the Princeton Contemporary Poetry competition\, and his collected poems and translations “The Must-Be-Admired Things\,” was published in 2022. \n\n\n\nHe has won nine awards from the Poetry Society of America and was invited by The Atlantic Monthly to serve as poet-in-residence at the Robert Frost House in Franconia\, New Hampshire. DESCRIPTION:MOXI & LOON\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Moxi & Loon are a rock duo based in San Diego\, featuring Moxi (Nick Fulsher) on drums and Loon (Jake Jarz) on guitar/vocals. With an original blend of psych rock\, desert rock\, punk\, and dirty blues\, Moxi & Loon conjure a huge sound despite their two-piece approach. \n\n\n\n The duo got their start by performing weekly impromptu outdoor rocks shows while living in their vans. Much of their original material was written in front of live audiences while busking in San Diego and performing at various #vanlife festivals.
