Redmond poet Gary Miranda won the prestigious 2023 Stewart H. Holbrook Literary Legacy Award.
The award is presented annually by Oregon Literary Arts “in recognition of significant contributions that have enriched Oregon’s literary community.”

Miranda, a Pacific Northwest native, has taught writing and literature at various universities, including as Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Athens and as writer-in-residence at Reed College. He has published poems in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Poetry and elsewhere.
His first book “Listeners at the Breathing Place” won the Princeton Contemporary Poetry competition, and his collected poems and translations “The Must-Be-Admired Things,” was published in 2022.
He has won nine awards from the Poetry Society of America and was invited by The Atlantic Monthly to serve as poet-in-residence at the Robert Frost House in Franconia, New Hampshire. His poems are on tape in the Library of Congress poetry archive and can be found at garymiranda.com.
The award will be presented at the 2023 Oregon Book Awards ceremony on Monday, April 3 at the Gerding Theater at Portland Center Stage.
