DESCRIPTION:Gary Miranda \n\n\n\nRedmond poet Gary Miranda won the prestigious 2023 Stewart H. Holbrook Literary Legacy Award. \n\n\n\nThe award is presented annually by Oregon Literary Arts “in recognition of significant contributions that have enriched Oregon’s literary community.” \n\n\n\nCome join us for a reading and recognition to his creative success.  \n\n\n\nMiranda\, a Pacific Northwest native\, has taught writing and literature at various universities\, including as Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Athens and as writer-in-residence at Reed College. He has published poems in The New Yorker\, The Atlantic Monthly\, Poetry and elsewhere. \n\n\n\nHis first book “Listeners at the Breathing Place” won the Princeton Contemporary Poetry competition\, and his collected poems and translations “The Must-Be-Admired Things\,” was published in 2022. \n\n\n\nHe has won nine awards from the Poetry Society of America and was invited by The Atlantic Monthly to serve as poet-in-residence at the Robert Frost House in Franconia\, New Hampshire.
